About Mahaska County Time Bank

The Mahaska County Time Bank is a community-based exchange system where members offer and request services based on their skills and interests, fostering a culture of reciprocity and mutual support. By participating, members contribute to a vibrant network that strengthens community bonds and promotes collective well-being.

Mission Statement Our mission is to build a connected and supportive community in Mahaska County by facilitating the exchange of services and skills among members, enhancing the quality of life for all.

How It Works • Offer Services: Members list services they can provide, ranging from gardening assistance to tutoring, based on their expertise and passions. • Request Services: Members can request services they need, tapping into the diverse skills available within the community. • Time Credits: Each hour of service exchanged earns a time credit, which can be redeemed for services offered by other members, ensuring a fair and balanced system.

Purpose and Usage The Time Bank aims to leverage the talents and resources within Mahaska County to create a self-sustaining support network. It provides an alternative economy where time and skills are the currency, making services accessible to all, regardless of financial means. Members can use the platform to find assistance, offer help, and engage in community-building activities.

Endgame for the User For members, the Time Bank offers: • Access to a Wide Range of Services: From childcare to home repairs, members can find assistance tailored to their needs. • Opportunities to Give Back: By offering services, members contribute to the community's well-being and foster a sense of purpose. • A Strengthened Community: Engaging with the Time Bank leads to a more connected and supportive environment, enhancing social ties and collective resilience.
